Lets Talk Shirts

Shirt is the most important garment in a man’s wardrobe. With the right fabric, cut, fitting and colour, it can make a world of difference in his looks.

Types of shirts:

Suit Shirts: They have long sleeves and a collar and look best when worn under a formal suit or a sport coat. These are best for executives and for special occasions.

Dress Shirts: They are formal wear and have long sleeve and a cuff. For the regular office-goer, this is a perfect shirt.

Dinner Shirts: These are more formal than the suit shirts and have long sleeves and look great with a black tie. They are supposed to be worn for evening parties and events.

Half-Shirts: A half-shirt is a casual affair and is most suitable for any relaxed atmosphere.

Polo’s, T-Shirts and Sweat Shirts: These also belong to the casual clothing line. Polo’s and T-shirts generally have short sleeves and soft collars. Sweat shirts are pullovers and may or may not have a hood.

Things to Check While Buying a Shirt:

Fabric:  There is a choice between man- made fibers such as cotton, wool, silk and the synthetic or petroleum based fibers, such as polyester. Hundred percent cotton shirts are the most comfortable but they are high maintenance. A cotton and polyester blend needs less ironing and is easy to wear.

Fitting: The next thing is the fitting of a shirt. It has to be well cut in order to give an excellent appearance. Shabby workmanship can really ruin a shirt.

Colour: For office goers neutral colours are the best, such as whites and various shades of blue. For casual wear, brighter colours can give a happy, charming appearance.

Design: Shirts with straight lines always look the best unless we are on a beach or at a party. For these other occasions there are floral and designer shirts, which can quickly get you into the fun mood.
